WHAT IS A LOW FODMAP DIET?

FODMAP is an acronym that has been given to a group of short chain carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed in the small intestine, resulting in the symptoms experienced with IBS. FODMAP stands for Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides, and Polyols.

FODMAPs are naturally present in certain foods and a diet that contains a low amount of FODMAPs (a “low FODMAP diet”) has been found to improve the control of IBS symptoms by a research team at Monash University in Australia.

CAN PEOPLE WHO DON’T HAVE DIGESTIVE ISSUES EAT BAY’S KITCHEN PRODUCTS?

Yes! Bay’s Kitchen products can be enjoyed by all the family. Even though they don’t contain hard-to-digest ingredients such as garlic and onion, they are suitable for everyone. However, it is not advisable to only eat Low FODMAP products unless you have been advised to do so by a medical professional, as the diet is very restrictive.

ARE THERE ANY ALLERGENS IN BAY’S KITCHEN SAUCES?

All allergen information is provided on the jar label and on the individual product page on the shop on this website. All allergens will be highlighted in Bold.

Our Thai Green Curry contains Soy due to the Gluten Free Soy Sauce used and our Tomato & Basil Sauce contains Sulphites.

Whilst the other sauces don’t contain allergens, they are produced in a kitchen where other allergens such as milk, soy and celery may be present. We make every effort to ensure cross contamination doesn’t occur, however this can’t be guaranteed. The factory we use is nut free, however some ingredients used may have come from factories which handle nuts.

All our products have now been certified as Gluten Free and so are suitable for those with Coeliac Disease and Gluten Intolerance.

CAN PEOPLE NOT ON A LOW FODMAP DIET EAT BAY’S KITCHEN PRODUCTS?

Yes! Bay’s Kitchen products can be enjoyed by all the family. We have really focussed on taste of the products, so everyone can enjoy them together!

However, it is not advisable to ONLY eat Low FODMAP foods unless you have been advised to do so by a medical professional, as the diet is very restrictive. Anyone not on the diet can enjoy our foods, but ensure it is part of their usual balanced diet.
